Charlotte, Mecklenburg Schools are nationally recognized for balancing academic achievement with rich opportunities in the arts and humanities. Students and parents have a world of choices, from classical studies to information technology to international programs. Magnet schools offer students the opportunity to focus on a particular theme or curriculum, including performing arts, Montessori and language immersion. A strong focus on technology has resulted in numerous awards and honors for innovation and creativity in the classroom. And CMS’s Pre-K program is serving as a model for similar programs throughout the state and country. But even with such diversity, CMS never loses sight of giving each and every student a firm foundation in the basics of reading, writing and mathematics.
Charlotte, also has a strong base of private schools. Among them is a growing Catholic school system, a variety of denominational church schools and non-church related institutions and publicly funded privately operated Charter schools.
